Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting functions, including daily cash flow analysis, bank reconciliations, and assist in monthly/quarterly financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare and file Canadian and U.S. sales tax returns; ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Review vendor contracts and reconcile vendor rebate programs.
  • Complete monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis to support financial accuracy.
  • Lead the year-end audit preparation, including working papers and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Prepare and complete the year-end income tax review for provincial/state and federal.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including ERP system optimization.
  • Complete ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the Corporate Controller.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant corporate accounting experience, ideally within a large or multi-location company, in both Canada and US.
  • Experience in a nationwide distribution or construction materials industry is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; experience with ASPE preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including Macros, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
  • Experience with ERP systems and an interest in process optimization and automation.
  • Familiarity with vendor contracts and rebate management.
  • Strong working knowledge of tax compliance and reporting
  • Solid understanding of audit processes
