Surveyor I:
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to assist in conducting field surveys used to create, maintain and analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists in gathering as-built and field inventory data on water, wastewater and stormwater structures within the CCWA system.
Assists in performing field checks on contractor submitted electronic as-builts.
Assists in the collection, storage, maintenance and dissemination of survey data: and may perform preliminary analyses.
Assists in the preparation of field notes and sketches to document the data collection efforts of survey projects prepared by CCWA.
Assists other departments with field inventory data collection and/or surveying related activities required for installation and/or maintenance of water, wastewater, and stormwater structures within the CCWA system.
Assists in performing other survey and data management work related duties as assigned.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains Trimble GeoXT, GeoXH, TopCon GMS-2, Trimble Survey Grade GPS Unit, and other tools and equipment.
Communicates with supervisor, other CCWA employees, contractors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Additional Functions:
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. This position is considered Safety Sensitive.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Surveyor II:
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to conduct field surveys used to create, maintain and analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data.
Essential Functions:

Gathers data on water, wastewater and stormwater structures within the CCWA system: prepares field notes and sketches to document the data collection efforts of survey projects.
Assists with reviewing data: assists with conducting quality assurance and quality control activities; assists with editing survey data; and assists with file transfers between survey controller devices and GIS and Engineering software.
Conducts field work for verifications and corrections on the water, wastewater and stormwater structures within the CCWA system.
Assists in the maintenance and development of Feature Code Library, Description Key Set, Linework Code Set, and Figure Prefix Database.
Assists in performing field checks on contractor submitted electronic as-builts: utilizes survey grade Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) software; and provides accuracy feedback to GIS.
Assists other departments with field inventory data collection and/or surveying related activities required for installation and/or maintenance of water, wastewater, and stormwater structures within the CCWA system.
Performs other survey and data management work related duties as assigned.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to conduct field surveys used to create, maintain and analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data and to provide lead guidance, direction and training to assigned staff.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers: confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers; assists with complex/problem situations; and provides technical expertise.
Assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
Leads the gathering of data on water, wastewater and stormwater structures within the CCWA system as assigned for the purposes of system inventory or design survey.
Maintains and develops the Feature Code Library for survey controller in the current surveying software.
Maintains and develops the Description Key Set, Linework Code Set, and Figure Prefix Database in the current drafting software.

Associate degree in GIS, Surveying, or a related field required; supplemented by two years of experience in land surveying, and utilizing GIS software; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. This position is considered Safety Sensitive.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must possess and maintain National Society of Professional Surveyors Certified Survey Technician Level II.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
ADA Compliance:
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites.
