JOB TITLE: Laser NC Setup Operator
REPORTS TO: Laser NC Supervisor
SCHEDULE:
- Option A. Afternoon Shift: Monday – Friday 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm
- Option B. Evening Shift: Sunday – Thursday 11:00 pm – 7.00 am
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setting up and operating the Mazak OPTIPLEX 3015 FIBER III lasers
- Stage materials at each work center for the day’s production for loading and unloading.
- Ensure the production schedule is followed as allocated by the scheduling department.
- Facilitate work instructions and quality standards following AS9100 Rev C standards.
- Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area under company standards and manufacturer machine recommendations.
- Perform machine alignment procedures and optic cleaning to keep equipment at peak operating performance.
- Monitoring assist and resonator gas levels and recommend supply requirements for daily production.
- Maintain daily dust collector service and associated logbook in assigned areas and report equipment deficiencies.
- Perform daily machine start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Other duties assigned by Lead/Supervisor or Management.
- Adherence to attendance policy (regular attendance)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 or more years of experience setting up CNC fiber laser machines. Working on brands such as Mazak and Amada is asset.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to read drawings.
- Knowledgeable to identify various sheet metal materials and gauges
- Ability to learn or have some working knowledge of NC machine code.
- Ability to work well as a team member.
- Ability to inspect flat laser/plasma cut parts with precision inspection equipment is an asset
- Ability to work in a safe and healthy environment for oneself and fellow employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently.
- Bend, twist, turn, and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 – 9 hours per day.
- Work in a fast-paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing.
